Build things that businesses actually run on
FourCents is a software studio with 20+ years of product work and 350+ delivered projects. We hire rarely and carefully, work fully remote, and publish what we pay.
2 open roles
Senior Software Engineer
Own the design and delivery of client products end to end: web apps, mobile apps, integrations and AI features, working directly with the founder and the clients themselves.
Sales Representative
Find and win the businesses that need custom software, web and mobile apps, or video and influencer work from our media division, and guide them from first call to signed proposal.
Each posting on this page is for an existing vacancy.
We do not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess or select applicants. Every application is read by a person.
FourCents is an equal-opportunity employer. Accommodations are available on request at every stage of the hiring process.
Four steps, no unpaid homework
Every role follows the same shape. The exact steps for each position are listed on its page.
- 1
Apply with your work
Send links to things you have built, sold or written, plus a short note. We review every application ourselves and do not use AI to screen or rank applicants.
- 2
A 30-minute call with the founder
What you have done, what you want to do next, and an honest description of the role, the clients and the pace.
- 3
A paid, time-boxed exercise
Engineers get a technical exercise based on a real client problem. Sales candidates run a mock discovery call and write the follow-up. Both are paid; there are no unpaid take-homes.
- 4
A final conversation
Role, compensation within the published range, start date and any accommodations you need.
What helps an application stand out
- Links beat descriptions: a repository, a live product, a published app, a deal write-up or a proposal you drafted.
- Say what you did on a project, not what the team did. We work in small teams, so individual ownership is what we are hiring for.
- Plain language. Our clients are business owners, not engineers, and every role explains trade-offs to them.
- Tell us the compensation you are looking for. The range is published on each role, so there is nothing to guess at.
- If nothing open fits, write anyway. We hire rarely, but we keep good people in mind.
Common questions
Are the roles really remote?
Yes. Both open positions are fully remote and full-time. Hours are flexible around deep work, with overlap for client calls.
Do you publish salary ranges?
Yes. Every posting shows an expected compensation range, whether it is an existing vacancy, and a statement on AI screening, which we do not use.
Do you hire contractors or juniors?
The open roles are full-time and senior. If you are earlier in your career, send a note anyway with what you have built.
What if I need an accommodation during the process?
Ask at any stage, including before the first call. Accommodations are available throughout the process.
What it is like
Senior work, real ownership
We are small on purpose. You lead builds and conversations, not tickets, and clients know your name.
Honest with clients and with you
We quote fixed scopes, say no to work that will not succeed, and pay for technical exercises. The same honesty applies to how we hire.
Direct access
No layers between you, the founder and the client. Decisions happen in hours, and you see the result of your work in the business it was built for.
Nothing that fits? Send a short note and links to your work to info@fourcents.ca. We keep good people in mind.
