Senior Software Engineer
Own the design and delivery of client products end to end: web apps, mobile apps, integrations and AI features, working directly with the founder and the clients themselves.

FourCents is a software studio with more than twenty years of product work and 350+ projects delivered for clients across healthcare, real estate, finance, logistics, e-commerce and education. We are small on purpose: clients work directly with the people writing their code, and we stay with them for years. We are hiring a senior engineer who wants that kind of ownership, not a ticket queue.
What you will do
- Lead the technical design and delivery of client products from discovery to launch and beyond.
- Build and ship full-stack features in TypeScript (React, Node.js, PostgreSQL) and in React Native or native mobile where a project calls for it.
- Integrate third-party systems: payment gateways, ERPs (for example Epicor P21), CRMs, booking and messaging platforms.
- Design and implement AI-assisted features responsibly: retrieval, automation and agent workflows with clear guardrails.
- Set up and maintain CI/CD, infrastructure and monitoring on Linux, Docker and cloud providers; keep production healthy.
- Review code, mentor contributors, and raise the bar on testing, documentation and handover.
- Join client calls, explain trade-offs in plain language, and help scope work honestly.
What we are looking for
- Six or more years building and shipping production web or mobile software, with at least two as the technical lead on a product.
- Deep TypeScript/JavaScript with React and Node.js; comfortable with SQL schema design and performance on PostgreSQL.
- Experience deploying and operating services (Linux, Docker, nginx or equivalent, a major cloud) and debugging them under pressure.
- A track record of working directly with clients or stakeholders and delivering on fixed-scope commitments.
- Clear written and spoken English; you can write the technical section of a proposal and the release notes.
Nice to have
- React Native, Expo or Swift/Kotlin experience with published apps.
- Shipped integrations with Stripe, Moneris, QuickBooks Online, or an ERP.
- Practical experience with LLM APIs, vector search and evaluation of AI features.
- WordPress and WooCommerce at a professional level.
- Experience in a regulated domain (healthcare, finance) or with accessibility (WCAG) work.
